New automotive training equipment adds stimulus to DeKalb Tech’s training

More and more Americans are fixing up the old family vehicle in hopes it will last at least one more year.  Keeping that vehicle running means keeping it road-safe, not road weary in the most economical way.   DeKalb Technical College recently added state-of-the-art equipment for the steering and suspension course offered through automotive technology.
“This new equipment trains new automotive technicians in the fastest, most economical technology,” says. instructor Regi Simpkins, an ASE master auto and truck technician, master diagnostician and undercarriage specialist.

Shae MylesThe V3D1 and V3D2 imagining alignment systems use patented imagining technology to provide accurate, real-time measurements that reduce set-up and measurement times and generate serious productivity benefits.  This proven technology matched with easy-to-use software that will have technicians getting readings in a matter of minutes.

The Hunter TC3500 tire changer features assist in servicing large wheel’s ergonomic design, and its exclusive features operate to safely dismount and mount those tough performance tires and wheel combinations with ease. It is the professional's “standard,” specified and field-proven by automobile OEM's, tire manufacturers, service shops and racing teams.

The GSP9600 Road Force Balancer measures radial and lateral tire forces and provides instructions for solving ride and handling problems that balancers and wheel aligners cannot fix. It quickly calculates the contributions of the rim, tire to radial vibration problems, and presents the technician with easy systematic repair instructions. The GSP9600 identifies potential vehicle pull or drift problems, dramatically improves ride quality, and customer satisfaction by duplicating vibration measurement and tire/wheel matching methods previously used only by vehicle manufacturers to provide that “new car ride.”
