DeKalb Tech Economic Development recognizes manufacturers

Tough times call for innovative solutions and team work.  In celebration of Georgia’s Manufacturing Appreciation Week, DeKalb Technical College and Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce host a Manufacturers’ Expo on April 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Newton Center, 8100 Bob Williams Pkwy., Covington.

“The event is to provide an avenue for the Newton manufacturers to be able to discuss the economy and the future of manufacturing in DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, and Morgan counties,” says Vice President of Economic Development for DeKalb Tech Richard Smith. Crucita Dansby, Georgia Department of Labor, will educate attendees on “Georgia Works;” Vice President Richard Smith will speak on “Work Ready;” and a round table discussion by industry experts will discuss the economy and manufacturing environment.

Break-out sessions include retraining tax credits; Work Ready; OSHA safety; industrial training; and, OSHA general safety and health. Vendors will be available during the event.
