Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia announces that Gina R. Smith, DeKalb Technical College’s Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner will be one of the 12 consortia finalists going on to the state level. The state-level judging will be held at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, adjacent to the Cobb Galleria, May 20-21.
“We are proud of our students’ success and indebted to our instructors and coordinators for their commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm for technical education,” shares Commissioner Ron Jackson.
Smith, an Administrative Office Technology Degree major, whose nominating instructor was Mr. Francis Nyandeh of the General Studies Department recently, competed in the consortia preliminary-level judging. The consortia consists of east central, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest and west central Georgia. “We congratulate each of the 12 finalists on their achievement and wish them continued success as they compete to be named the Technical College System of Georgia’s 2009 state GOAL winner,” continues Jackson.
