She passed the hat and led the DeKalb Technical College (DTC) Foundation’s internal campaign to great results. Cynthia Edwards, Director of Career Services, led the campaign to a 153% increase during a 12-month campaign. Ms. Edwards recently received the 2008 Hawes Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of a Lifetime of Service to family, friends, and community presented by the DeKalb Tech Foundation.
“We are pleased with the results of the internal “Pass the Hat” campaign,” says Ms. Helen Mathis, Executive Director of the Foundation and Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “Ms. Edwards brought a renewed internal interest to the Foundation and to the areas of Foundation support.”
The DeKalb Technical College Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization that strives to promote the cause of technical and adult education and to expand educational opportunities for the students of DTC. The Foundation endeavors to assist in providing resources to support, improve, and promote technical and adult education programs and services for students in DeKalb, Rockdale, Newton, and Morgan counties.
The Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, led by a board of volunteer trustees supports the College’s strategic initiatives including the Newton Center and Public Service and Safety Academy; Regional Transportation Training Center; Hospitality and Tourism; Literacy, GED, and International Education; Rockdale Career Academy Partnership; Healthcare Training; and Dual Enrollment and Student Support Scholarships.
