March brought a much needed abundance rain to the Atlanta area, but the storm of March 26, 2009 was not enough to keep the job seekers away. The Conference Center at DeKalb Technical College was the venue for the “2009 Career and Resource Empowerment Conference” hosted by DeKalb Workforce Development. The Conference goal was not only to assist job seekers in finding solutions for ”A Changing Workforce” but to provide tools under the E3 business strategy: Education, Employment, and Economic Development.
Over 450 registered attendees attended career seminars facilitated by business owners and major corporations as speakers shared their business insights and offered interview and resume writing tips. Community service agencies provided resource information for housing and financial assistance. Recruiters from DeKalb Tech were on hand to discuss educational opportunities. In addition, over 35 employers participated on site to discuss their employment needs.
