DeKalb Technical College announces the appointment of Cory Thompson as Public Relations & Information Director. Thompson began his duties on May 18. He will replace long-time employee Kathy Fowler, who is retiring as the Marketing Director at the end of June.
“Cory has been an advocate for the technical college system for many years,” said Dr. Robin Hoffman, President of DeKalb Technical College. She goes on to say, “I am very pleased to welcome him as a member of our leadership team and look forward to working with him to take DeKalb Technical College to new levels of success.”
Cory Thompson brings more than a quarter-century of media and broadcast experience. Most recently, he was a News Anchor and Reporter for Fox 5 TV in Atlanta. The Emmy-award winning journalist will be responsible for developing strategic communications and marketing plans for DeKalb Tech and its Foundation; coordinating implementation of the plans with the leadership team, faculty, and staff; advertising, and assisting in the production of publications.
Mr. Thompson served as a member of the Board of Directors for DeKalb Tech since August of 2004 and was recently elected Vice-Chairman. As he leaves those responsibilities behind, he takes on new challenges. “I look forward to serving DeKalb Tech and the Technical College System of Georgia in a different capacity as well as using my skills to take the college to the next level.” said Thompson.
