“Proper training, taking responsibility, and flexibility” are the keys to success says Jerry Warshaw, CEO of Warshaw Properties and Chairman of the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation, as he recently spoke to Ms. Cathy Nash’s Principles of Accounting class.
“Students learned about career options in an industry they otherwise may not have considered,” says Ms. Nash who is also a certified public accountant.
Mr. Warshaw spoke to the class about careers in Apartment Management including accounting. While a student at Georgia Tech, Warshaw started helping his mother with bookkeeping for the family’s business and proved to be particularly effective with zoning issues. He advised the students to be willing to learn new things and gain experience in different areas.
“If you learn to do well at something you enjoy, the money will come,” he encouraged.
DeKalb Technical College likes to have speakers such as Mr. Warshaw who show the versatility of many career choices. “It motivates the students to take their studies seriously to be prepared for various career opportunities,” say Nash.
