Financial Aid is as Easy as 1-2-3:
Eligible students can receive one or more types of financial aid while attending DeKalb Technical College. Financial aid is generally in the form of grants, scholarships, and/or the work-study program. DeKalb Technical College participates in the following federal and state financial aid programs:
NOTE: You must apply annually for all financial aid.
To apply for federal financial aid—which includes the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and Federal Work Study Program (FWSP)—a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

You can complete the FAFSA using the internet at: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The web version guides you through the application and assists in providing the right responses. When completing the FAFSA remember to use DTC’s school code which is 016582.
To apply for state aid which includes the HOPE Grant or HOPE Scholarship, a student must also complete the FAFSA. DTC no longer accepts the gacollege411 HOPE application.
After you apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) you may be required to submit additional documentation. The Student Financial Services Office at DeKalb Technical College will notify you of the forms or requirements needed to complete your financial aid file. After your application is received, the Student Financial Services Office will send you an award letter in the mail. Your award letter may be estimated and may include the missing information needed in order to complete your file. Please review your award letter carefully and submit any documentation that is needed to finalize your awards.
You must also review the award provisions in order to ensure that you meet all eligibility requirements for the aid that was awarded to you. Please read the Important Information About Your Awards.
If you have been awarded the HOPE Book Grant or Scholarship,go directly to the Bookstore with a valid student ID and drivers license to use their HOPE Book Credit. The credit will be available in the bookstore the first two weeks of the quarter.
Federal PELL Grant and Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are disbursed to your student account after the 6th week of classes each quarter. If you drop or withdraw from classes before the 6th week of class, you may not be eligible for the entire scheduled disbursement.
In order to maintain your financial aid eligibility each year, it will be necessary to renew you Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year.
The Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available on January 1st each year and determines your eligibility for aid beginning the summer quarter of each year through the following spring quarter.
