Grants & Scholarships

DeKalb Technical College offers a variety of financial aid programs that include grants and scholarships that are non-repayable. We do not participate in any federal or state loan programs.

Federal PELL Grant

If you are enrolled in a certificate program you will not be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant. To determine your eligibility for the Pell grant for diploma or degree programs you must complete the FAFSA application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate DeKalb Tech's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 016582.

Eligibility Requirements:

If you are in a Diploma Program, the hours that you register for may be converted to federal credit hours and may impact the amount of your grant. Please check with the Student Financial Services Office for more details concerning the conversion of your registered hours.

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

If you are enrolled in a certificate program you will not be eligible for the Federal SEOG. In order to qualify for Federal SEOG, a student must complete the FAFSA application and must also be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant.

To complete the FAFSA application, go to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate DeKalb Tech's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 016582.

Federal College Work Study (FWSP)

This is a needs based federal work program to help students fund educational expenses by providing employment opportunities.

If you are enrolled in a certificate program you will not be eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study Program. In order to qualify for FWSP, a student must complete the FAFSA application.

To determine your eligibility for the FWSP for diploma or degree programs you must complete the FAFSA application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate DeKalb Tech's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 016582.

Eligibility Requirements:

On campus and a few off campus positions are available to students. Work hours are generally flexible around your academic schedule. A student's work schedule normally cannot exceed 20 hours per week. Wages for positions may vary.

HOPE Grant

The HOPE Grant pays total tuition, mandatory fees (except technology and campus access fees) and up to $100 for books.

To apply you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate DeKalb Tech's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 016582.

Eligibility Requirements:

*You must submit a copy of your permanent resident card to the Student Financial Services Office to verify that you are an eligible non-citizen. You must be a permanent resident of the United States for at least one year before you become eligible for the HOPE Grant/Scholarship.

Students are able to receive HOPE Grant payment for a total of 95 attempted hours. Attempted hours will include any credits attempted beginning with Summer 2003 Term. If the diploma program is designed to be more than 95 hours the student may receive the grant up to the number of hours required for graduation or a total of 130 attempted hours.For complete details on HOPE program changes please visit the GSFC website at www.gsfc.org

HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Scholarship pays total tuition, mandatory fees (execpt technology and campus access fee) and up to $100 for students seeking a degree. The student must be a 1993 or later high school graduate with a 3.0 cumulative grade point averageand be a designated HOPE scholar.

A nontraditional student may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship after completing 45 credit hours in the diploma program and maintaining a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. GPAs are recalculated at 45, 90, and 135 quarter hours, at which time the student must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to retain the HOPE Scholarship.

To apply you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and indicate DeKalb Tech's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 016582.

Eligibility Requirements:

Students are able to receive HOPE Scholarship payments payment for a total of 190 attempted hours. If the degree program is designed to be more than 190 hours, the student may receive the scholarships for a total of 225 attempted hours or the number of hours required for graduation, whichever is less.

Foundation  Scholarships

A few scholarships are offered through DTC’s Foundation.  A list of these scholarships and DeKalb Technical College's General Scholarship Application can be found at www.dekalbtech/about/Scholarships.php.

 

Outside  Scholarships

Students are encouraged to search for and apply to as many scholarships as possible.  There are a variety of internet sites available to assist students in the scholarship search process.  The Student Financial Services Office does not recommend you to use any Scholarship Search that requires a fee.  A popular free search is FASTWEB.
